Did you know that there is a whole day dedicated to jazz music? And guess what…it’s today! Many resorts and hotels in Punta Cana offer live jazz music, but if you want to get out into town, there’s plenty of options too. Read along and see where you can enjoy some excellent jazz music on International Jazz Day in and near Punta Cana!

International Jazz Day was brought to life in 2011 by UNESCO, in order to highlight jazz as a music genre that unites people all around the world. The goal of this day is to celebrate the roots and origins of jazz, but also to promote peace, diversity and intercultural respect and understanding. Other than the live concert broadcasted from Cuba today, you can also enjoy the free-spirited sounds of jazz music in Punta Cana. These are our top picks!

Soulful tunes at La Taberna de Charlo

You’d be surprised at how flexible La Taberna de Charlo is, as it transforms from easygoing and yummy brunch cafe during the day, to a groovy and soulful spot in the evening. Their tagline is ‘good vibes only’ and we totally see that. Each day has its own theme, with Tapas Tuesdays and two-for-one drinks on Wednesday. The Mondays are for ‘Just-Fun-Do-It’, so you can enjoy a nice and hot fondue today on International Jazz Day. Of course, the cool tunes are provided as well. Perfect!

Bohemian Tapas & Wine Bar: cozy and elegant

This one is a hidden gem, but we are willing to share a secret. Located in the Cap Cana marina, Bohemian Tapas & Wine bar is one of the best places for a chilled out night. Of course they know everything about tapas and wine, but jazz music is their specialty too! With a small, cozy but elegant vibe, you can definitely enjoy your date night here, but groups are also more than welcome.

A whole day of  live jazz at San Juan Shopping Center

Maybe it’s where you least expect it, but more than 50 local jazz artists are playing live music today at San Juan Shopping Center in Bavaro. Organized by cultural organization Jazz En El Este, this event will start at 2 PM and end at 10 PM, so that’s one whole day of jazz tunes. And the best thing is: it’s totally free! Live jazz Nights at La Mona

If you’re into jazz, you absolutely can’t miss La Mona, as they’re the masters of jazz events in Punta Cana. Located right by the beach, you can order one of their crafty cocktails and listen to some amazing live music. Even though the jazz nights are on Fridays, the atmosphere is great at any day. But do make sure you keep your jazzy vibe until the end of the week, because it won’t disappoint!

Beach relaxation at 4 Jack’s Bar & Bistro

Are you hanging out at the beach today? Even then you can enjoy jazz music. 4 Jack’s Bar & Bistro is a very laid back beach spot where you can sip on an iconic margherita or royal mojito while taking in some cool jazz. The vibes call for good conversations or some relaxation after a night of dancing.
