Do you feel it coming up already? That weekend vibe. Yes, it is Friday! Time to find out about the coolest things to do in Punta Cana this weekend. Dive against pollution, enjoy yourself at a tropical fest, visit a farmer’s market, and so much more!

Friday night cocktail

Although we live in Punta Cana it does not mean we have seen it all. Sometimes we stumble upon a new place that we have not visited before. This time La Cantinita in Down Town Punta Cana was our pick. A Mexican restaurant that has live music and karaoke amongst other things on their weekly schedule. If you do not feel like eating Mexican food on this Friday night, you can always pass by for a cocktail. From 6 PM to 9 PM the cocktails are 2 for 1, because it is ladies night! Give us your opinion on this place!

Go organic on Saturday

This Saturday morning you can hop by the Farmers Market at Punta Cana Village again. We have written about this market in our article on going organic in Punta Cana and had an interview with Yira who is one of the initiators of this market. Well, on this Saturday you can discover this market for yourself. Get to know local brands and homegrown organic foods!

Dive against pollution

Are you a certified diver and have a heart for the environment? If you answer this question with a loud ‘Yes!’ then Saturday this is on the coolest things to do in Punta Cana for you this weekend. At the Blue Mako Dive Center, they are organizing a dive against debris from 8 in the morning till 12 in the afternoon. You will be cleaning up the ocean from rubbish that harm sea life. If you want to know more about projects that involve protecting the waters around Punta Cana, read our interview with dive instructor Danijela from Blue Vision adventures here.

Finding turtle steps

We have mentioned this activity in BOP’s weekly before. Why do we mention it again? Because this is the last weekend you can experience it. You will need to get up very early, but in our opinion, it is one of the coolest things to do in Punta Cana. At the moment the turtles in Punta Cana are nesting. To keep those nests safe from being run over by vehicles or people stepping on them, Punta Cana resort organizes turtle walks with volunteers. How does it work? From 5:45 am to 6:45 am, you will be walking a 5 km trail starting at the Ojos Indigenous. A beautiful walk. You will be searching for turtle tracks. As soon as you spot tracks or a nest, these will be marked. In the afternoon these nests will get a protective barrier, so everyone knows not to bother it. It is all about keeping those baby turtles safe, so they can be released into the sea. You can participate by sending an email to Samantha Mercado at smercado@puntacana.com. She is the coordinator of the project and will be able to give you more information. The more volunteers the better!

Tropical festivities

Every year a plane from Madrid lands on Punta Cana with a group of people who party all week. These are the people that flock to our city for Tropical Fest. An event that takes place from the 29th of September till the 6th of October. Expect beach parties, jungle vibes in caves, music and fun at a pool, a fashion show, and of course a fun vibe. Check out the program and how to get tickets. Definetely one of the coolest things to do in Punta Cana.
