BOP THROUGH CABEZA DE TORO

Discover Cabeza de Toro on Best of Punta Cana. Things to do in the Dominican Republic. Beach and more.

Cabeza de Toro. The bull’s head in Punta Cana. ‘A long stretch of nothingness and resorts someone once mentioned.’ We do not agree. Although this area is not as urban as other places in Punta Cana, it is still worth a visit. So, grab our hand and BOP through Cabeza de Toro with us!

Shaped like a bull’s head

Every time the cobrador (seller) of the guagua makes the rock sign by keeping his pointing finger and his pinky finger, and thumb visible, while hiding his middle finger and ring finger, you know he is on his way to Cabeza de Toro. The name comes from the shape of the area. Although we have been trying to see a bull’s head somewhere on Google Maps, the only thing that comes close is the Laguna Bavaro which looks like a bull’s head shape.

Discover Cabeza de Toro

On to the fun part of discovering Cabeza de Toro.

Start by following the Carretera Cabeza de Toro and it will guide you to the area. If you want to stay in one of the all-inclusive hotels that are housed there, you have plenty of choices. For example Natura Park Beach Eco Resort and Spa. A resort that is a little different from the regular due to its eco-tourism nature. Or stay at Catalonia Bavaro, known for their food. Especially their meatballs made from soy are to die for.

If you are staying in another part of Punta Cana a visit to the beach would be a nice change. Follow the signs to Dolphin Explorer to get to the public beach. Before hitting the beach, you can stop by Toro Café & restaurant, where their menu of the day usually consists of Dominican food. Think Pollo guisado (stewed chicken), habichuelas (beans). We would really advise you to try the local dishes here.

Soak up the sun rays on the beach. It could get crowded, but luckily our secret beaches selection in which Cabeza de Toro is also included will give you some peace.

Looking into being a little a more active, try the Marinarium. Cruise along the reef and see stingrays and nurse sharks. You can actually swim with them!

Relax and chill

Your day is not over yet. Enjoy some downtime lounging on couches filled with soft big pillows and have a swim in the pool at Pearl Beach while you are enjoying some sushi and a sea view. You might catch a party at night too or on Sunday where a saxophonist plays all your favorite hit songs. Just subscribe to BOP´s weekly and be informed!

If you are planning on turning your day around? Start by visiting the Fish Market in the morning. It is close to Pearl Beach Club.

Well, your day is set in Cabeza de Toro.
