PUNTA CANA IN A DAY: THE FAMILY EDITION

a close up of a map

Happen to have some spare time in Punta Cana with your family, while you’re waiting to get to your next destination? Planning an activity in between might seem stressful, but believe us: it would be a shame to just sit around and do nothing. There’s so much to see, and luckily this is a compact place, so you’ll be back at the airport in no time. Of course, we don’t know at what time you’re arriving, but we’ll give you options throughout the day so you can pick and choose. Read along and find out what you can do with a couple of hours in a day in Punta Cana!

07:00-09:00 | A good breakky to start the day at Isabella’s

You can’t skip the most important meal of the day, so why not make it worth your while? Isabella’s is open from 8 in the morning and located very close to the airport. At Isabella’s, you can get the freshest lemonades, best granola, and sandwiches. All ingredients and dishes are prepared with fresh local fruit and vegetables, so you can get some vitamins in before you start the rest of the day. Read our review on the dining options at Isabella.

09:00-13:00 | Water fun @ RAD park

RAD stands for ‘Real Action Daily’, so you know what you’re in for when you visit it! With 15 activities to choose from, you can make it as mild or exciting as you want. A great way to exercise and move around a bit before you’re going on your travels again! If you have little ones, the play lake is a great option. There’s a huge ‘blob’ where can you get catapulted into the air before splashing into the water. But you and your kids can also practice your sup (stand up paddle board) skills, or go into the infinity pool (with shallow water, perfect for the little ones). Other activities include water slides, water skiing or wakeskating (you can also get a lesson with one of the friendly staff members), and you can play soccer or volleyball if you are done with water activities. Best thing is: all accessories are provided, so you only have to bring your swimwear! For more information, click here for more information and read our review of the park! This is something you can easily do in a day in Punta Cana.

13:00 – 15:00 Lunchtime at Chozza @ RAD park

Because refueling is important, why not catch two birds with one stone and eat a great meal at the park? Lunching at Chozza is not just an easy option after your visit to the RAD water park, but also a must do when you’re in Punta Cana. Chozza has a bright and fun atmosphere, with beach vibes that are enjoyable to everyone. Pick and choose one of their tasty taco meals, or drink a refreshing cocktail (only for adults of course!). If you’re lucky, you can catch one of the events that are regularly organized.

15:00-17:00 Make your own chocolate at Choco Museo

Aaah more food. Who says no to chocolate? We thought so. This place is more than just a museum because you can choose several activities here. The most popular one is the ‘bean to bar’ workshop, where you can learn how to make your own chocolate, starting with the actual cacao bean! If you’re on a tighter schedule, you can opt for the mini chocolate workshop, where some of the work is already prepared. Ideal for a family activity! Especially for just one day in Punta Cana. You can make your own handmade chocolates with different flavorings and pick them up an hour later, so they’re fully ready to eat. or you can bring them with you as a gift! Or eat them yourself before they melt…

17:00-19:00 A refreshing drink at La Taberna de Charlo

We think one of the best moments of the day is that time just before dinner when you can just chill out with a nice drink. And well frankly, you just deserve it! Located in Cap Cana, La Taberna de Charlo has a great terrace where you can enjoy a cold drink in your hand to celebrate your awesome day in Punta Cana. Get a fresh sangria, Moscow mule or other beautifully made cocktails to get ready for dinner. The staff is happy to welcome children as well. Cheers!

19:00 – 23:00 Dinnertime at Jellyfish beach restaurant

A visit to Punta Cana is not complete without a beach sighting. And because refueling is important, why not catch two birds with one stone and eat a great Caribbean meal at the beach? Jellyfish restaurant is located in Bavaro and has a panoramic view over the entire beach. No wonder they host so many weddings! But don’t worry, if you’re already married or don’t have any particular plans to get hitched, just getting dinner here is great too. Enjoy one of their fresh, local seafood dishes, or get a great plate of pasta if you need some carbs. Jellyfish caters to everyone, so it’s not hard to have a great (family) dinner here.
