Breakers Café: “It’s good because we care!”
Punta Cana is growing every day. This means there are always new places to visit and things to do in town. Today, we want to introduce you to a wonderful new breakfast and lunch place that will have your taste buds craving for more. It is called Breakers Café! A cool spot in Bavaro. Let’s dig in!
Where do we find Breakers café?
Breakers Café is located in Bavaro. Remember our article about things to do there? Well, you can find Breakers Café in Los Corales on Plaza Coral Village. This new square is the latest hotspot in town with cozy restaurants all around. Enter the parking and walk straight ahead until you find Breakers in the left hand corner.
It’s good because we care
“It’s good because we care!” That is Breakers Café’s slogan. They focus on seasonal, local, top quality ingredients from some of the best purveyors in the Dominican Republic. The owners, who are from Holland take pride in offering food that is a mix of Dutch, French, and International cuisine. Think croissants; natural, with ham and cheese, chocolate, fresh strawberries and vanilla cream and more. Pancakes, but also fresh juices with names like beetle mania and detox are there to give you that energy to help you throughout your day. Or a chicken satay (chicken skewers with Indonesian peanut sauce) that will have you licking your fingers when you are done. Or what about their eggs and sides, where you can choose two eggs that come fried, poached, or scrambled with two sides, bread and butter included. But also their poached egg salmon with avocado, Benedict style is one for the books. “We take pride in the food we serve!”, owner Ellen Mannaert tells us.
Together with her husband she started this new venture because they saw an opportunity to bring a new breakfast and lunch concept to Bavaro Punta Cana. After having Breakers Coffee Shop in Cap Cana they wanted a change of scenery in an area that is growing constantly. “We saw the plaza and knew that Breakers Café would be a great addition to the neighbourhood. We serve breakfast all day!”, Ellen says.
“Taki, taki Rumba!” Yes, expect a mix of hip hop, reggaetón and Ibiza deep house when you are munching on lunch or breakfast at Breakers Cafe. Which fits in the ambiance the owners want to display. A wall painting with the slogan it’s good because we care and their signature coffee cup together with a palm tree matches this vibe. It is almost a lifestyle concept when you enter the place. In addition to good food they also sell postcards, notebooks, bags, and purses.
Breakers café is worth a visit. Especially if you are into a cool spot where you can have fresh good food for breakfast and lunch. Another good trait are their promotions. Every day between 8 and 10 in the morning you can buy one coffee and get one free. On Wednesday all eggs and sides are 5 USD, and on Thursdays you can buy any juice and get the other one free. But you can also buy their homemade apple pie and receive an Americano for free. This is our kind of place!
We do have one tip. In the morning they run out of croissants quite fast, so our tip to them is to bake some more!
