WEATHER IN PUNTA CANA: WHAT TO WEAR, WHAT TO BRING?
The weather in Punta Cana is always sunny! This is true most of the time but sometimes the weather is subject to change too. With this overview, you will know what to wear and what to bring in the months that you are living or vacating in Punta Cana.
Weather in Punta Cana
The weather is the favorite topic of people everywhere. “It´s cold today! Oee it is so hot!” It almost seems like the weather is never good enough. Luckily, for us, Punta Cana has plenty of sunny days a year.
In general, Punta Cana has a tropical climate. June is the hottest month with an average temperature of 28°C and the coldest month is January at 25°C. August is the month with the most daily sunshine. 10 hours a day! The wettest month is September with an average of 128mm of rain. This is also the month in which hurricane season starts. The best month to swim in the sea is in August when the average sea temperature is 29°C. May is also a wet month with some more showers than usual in the year. If you want to keep things a little cooler, Punta Cana in December, January, February, March, and April are colder with an average of 28 to 30 °C in the daytime and 18 to 22 °C in the nighttime.
If you are in Punta Cana at the moment, you might have noticed that the wind can be strong at times. Sometimes the temperature drops to 17 degrees in the morning! Okay, we are exaggerating a little bit. Of course, for other countries this temperature is heaven, but in Punta Cana, you will see people on Motoconchos with Lammy coats and wind jackets on. This happens only in the morning and later at night though, because during the day they will be sweating out of their jackets.
What to wear tonight
We filled your time with plenty of Valentine´s day activities for today. When you are out on the beach walking around at tonight, take your little vest with you, since it might get a little windy. But the breeze won´t be as cold as the winter wind you feel in Europe.
There is one advantage. The lovely musquitos that tend to feast on your blood are not able to stick to your skin because the wind blows them away.
This is only for tonight though. In general, a pair of shorts with sandals and a t-shirt will work as your outfit in Punta Cana. No need to have a suitcase or a closet filled with warm socks, scarfs, and heavy jackets. An umbrella is not a luxury during this month. In the end, it is officially winter, which means a heavy shower could come pouring out of the sky. Don´t worry the sun usually shines after 5 minutes.
Don´t take our advice too literally, because in the end you will be mostly sunbathing in our lovely and tropical Punta Cana!
