BLOGGERS IN PUNTA CANA, THE HONEST TRUTH

bloggers opinion about Punta Cana featured on Best of punta Cana. Photo of Dunkey in Punta Cana

As much as we love Punta Cana, we can imagine that it sometimes seems a bit daunting to come here if you’re not interested in a resort holiday. And even if you are, we know you want to read about REAL experiences travelers have in our town. That’s why we, for once, considered ourselves tourist and browsed the internet for others’ experiences in Punta Cana. What do the bloggers say?

Bloggers in Punta Cana

Turns out, our curiosity wasn’t met with a lot of response. While there are thousands and thousands of travel blogs out there, not many of them featured our Punta Cana! Truthfully, Punta Cana has only existed for about 45 years now, so it’s still a relatively undiscovered gem. But we know where to dance the bachata, drink the most glorious mamajuana and hop on a boat to discover natural pools, and bloggers still seem to be rather oblivious of this fact.

Off the resort

Seattlestravels went off the resort in Punta Cana, by literally stepping over a rope on the beach and discovering the world beyond her resort. We urge people to do the same! While resorts are a blissful luxury, it’s always a great learn to explore the real culture of the place you’re visiting.

The beach was lined with countless palm trees, some of which had been knocked down into the sand and extended out into the water. I jumped over their curved trunks and inspected their mangled roots, wondering if they had been destroyed by the recent hurricane or if they had simply just ran the course of their lives.

It was the same Sea viewed from the resort, but somehow it just felt different. The water appeared more vibrant and sparkled a deep turquoise off of the sides of the boats that scattered on the bobbing surface of the ocean.”

Loads to do

Hayley from A Life of More made a list of her top three things to do in Punta Cana, which include Isla Saona and Hoyo Azul. Obviously, this woman is a nature gal at heart and we fully recommend our stunning Dominican surroundings. It’s interesting to see what different people make of this island and Punta Cana.

Literally translated as ‘Blue Hole’, ‘Hoyo Azul’ is pretty much just that! It sometimes baffles me what Mother Nature can do, but a bright blue natural pool in amongst a system of caves is just about as close to perfect as you can get.

These are my top picks from this little slice of paradise, but if you just want to sit in your own juices for a week and never leave the resort, that’s just fine, too!

Monkeys, monkeys, monkeys everywhere

Holly and her family from Four Around the World prove that Punta Cana is an excellent choice if you’re visiting with kids, and brought them all to Monkeyland, 45 min outside of the city. The family weren’t necessarily familiar with the Dominican Republic or Punta Cana but seemed to be pleasantly surprised at the chance to feed the cutest monkeys in such short distance. Also, if you’re traveling to Punta Cana with children, check out these kid-friendly hotels!

“We definitely recommend this tour if you are in Punta Cana. It is a must do! Kids and adults alike with love it, providing you love animals. If you are not a fan of animals or are scared at the thought of having cute little critters jumping on your head, it might not be for you. However our 20-month-old thought this was the best thing ever! If you have nut allergies or similar, you may not want to risk it as you do end up with bits of monkey food all over the place as they jump from bowl to bowl to find the best bits!

Younger kids may get a bit restless during some of the more educational parts of the tour, such as during the garden walk and coffee/cocoa demonstration, but they will likely love the chance to sample hot chocolate.”

More opinions

In all honesty, these bloggers had some exciting experiences but missed out on so many places outside the typical excursions that are offered. That is why we are super curious about other travelers’ opinions and experiences in Punta Cana! While they’re figuring out our lovely town exists, we are paving the way, letting you know all about the ins and outs of Punta Cana. Of course, we already know it’s a slice of paradise, combining beach, stunning nature, good food, and fascinating culture and dancing. But what about you? We’d love to hear your thoughts on Punta Cana!
