In Punta Cana, both locals and holiday-goers are big believers in leading their best life. It’s hard not to, with the sun, sea and a lot of fun within handreach! But don’t forget that food is also one of the most important things in the Dominican culture. So even though you’ve worked hard on your summer body before your holiday, we urge you to go for maximum indulgence when you’re in Punta Cana. While there are many good restaurants serving local food, we understand that sometimes all you want is a big, juicy burger. That’s why we listed the 5 best burger joints in Punta Cana. Warning: this blog will be mouthwatering. So read it and dig in! And this is only part 1!

Salsiao

Street food plays a big part in the Caribbean, so if you’re looking for a American slash Dominican experience, you have to check out this place.  Salsiao’s uniqueness lies in the style of their burgers, as they’re heavily influenced by Dominican ingredients and dishes. They also understand that with a good burger comes a good beer. Amongst their local craft beers are a Charley Horse summer ale and a Viralata IPA. Also awesome: they always have a new hamburger of the month, and offer 2 for 1 burgers every week. Isn’t that enough reason for you to come back? So go over there, take a seat at one of the chairs in front of the truck and enjoy and share stories with your fellow burger lovers!

Burger Factory

If you’re looking for a premium burger experience, we strongly recommend Burger  Factory. This It’s a fairly new addition to the popular food and drink venue Sanctuary Town in Cap Cana. All burgers are made of 100% pure Galician veal imported from Spain, and all other ingredients, including the bread, are local and fresh. You can find various interesting burger choices on their menu, for instance the smoked salmon burger with a ink squid bun and country style french fries. To pair your royal burger with a drink, you can either choose one of the pretty and delicious milkshakes or opt for a pitcher of house beer. A range of crispy salads is available for the herbivores, and in complete contrast, ultimate carnivores are able to indulge with the star of the show: a XXL premium burger. This baby is made of 350 grams of pure beef, enclosed in a custom made bun and served with fries. So be sure to wear some wide pants!

Onno’s Bavaro

Happy hour, cabaret and burgers; at Onno’s Bavaro you’re at the right place for an informal dinner at the beach. Using fresh products and making their dishes with love and care, you’ll get a complete experience if you go here for a night out. But before you go all wild with the white sangria during happy hour, you need to eat! When you go for their burgers, you’ll find fresh buns, patties made of Angus beef and ingredients with a Dominican or Caribbean touch (try their grilled pineapple burger!). And we have a insider tip: instead of fries, order some nachos or diablo shrimps on the side. They’re crazy popular for a reason!

Chef Pepper

Are you hungry yet? Just wait, because we have another place you should know about. Located in the San Juan shopping centre, Chef Pepper is great for those in need of some fuel after a heavy day of shopping. But even if you’ve had a day at Bavaro beach, we strongly recommend this place! Not only do they have reasonable prices, but the juicy- and tastiness of their burgers are out of this world. Take for example their forest burger: a double Angus patty with sauteed onions and covered it thick, creamy mushroom sauce. If you’re really hungry you can choose the royale burger: a brioche bun, Angus beef, bacon cooked in maple syrup and bernaise sauce. Oh and eat some of the batata mash on the side. Yum!

NAM ÑAM

Good name, right? Very fitting for this small, family owned restaurant in Los Corales (Bavaro). They put a lot of love in their dishes: making everything from scratch, and using local, fresh products. And very yummy it is! They have 5 burgers on their menu, each made with Angus beef. While they’re quite simple to begin with, but there’s a big selection of toppings you can choose from to make it your own. Amongst them are Gouda cheese, bell pepper, marinated mushrooms and even a huevo frito (fried egg). Order some cheese fries on the side, and top it all off with a classic banana split or fresh baklava. off with They also have options for vegetarians and kids, by the way. Tripadvisor also thinks this restaurant is a winner: it’s won the certificate of excellence for the last 5 years!
